JS Bonbons (not JS Bon Bons) is a classy,
airy
store on
Dupont street, filled
with the sweet smell of chocolate.
Jenn Stone, former pastry chef at the
Splendido and Mistura restaurants, is the
talented chocolatier in residence.
Cocoa
powders with kick,
bars of organic
chocolate, and other kinds of chocolate can
be
bought
here, as well as a
wide variety of fresh homemade truffles.
The
classics are all there:
gianduja, vanilla, nuts... along with more
unusual
ones, spice- or
herb-based: earl grey tea, chai tea,
cinnamon,
lavender, lemon and
thyme as well as fantastic caramels like the
ginger-cardamom chocolate-covered toffee
and the very bold sea-salted caramel
truffle.
Prices are reasonable at just over $1 per
truffle, or about
$75/kg.
JS Bonbons has another store at 811
Queen St. West (at Niagara).

I stopped by the store on Queen Street. They've got a few interesting products and lots of herb based truffles. I bought 9 to try out, the cardamom caramel was ok the rest of the truffles were not so great. I don't know whether it was the cream in the Rosemarry truffle or the taste itself, but I felt sick fo hours afterwards. The chocolate covered toffe was really good though.
