Over time, French caterers Daniel Megly and Daniel Clairet became extremely famous in town for their top-of-the-line catering and gourmet store.
Aptly "blending North American, European, and Asian influences with a fervent French sensuality", the duo constantly surprises us by offering baguette sandwiches among which the butter & ham classic, glorious quiches, Thai noodles dishes, and inspired salads, Daniel et Daniel are the destination of choice for both the entertaining gourmet and the gourmet on the go.
Their fruit tarts and other French pastries will provide an affordable and very decent alternative to those of their way-more expensive competitors.
The seasonable pumpkin tart makes you want it to be October all year round.
What's more, the store is a haven for the nostalgic expatriate: imported French goodies (at times slightly overpriced) like the rare Teysseire Sirops, Poulain chocolate bars, Barnier lollipops, Calissons d'Aix, B�tises de Cambray seem to have infiltrated every nook and cranny the little store had left!
One last thing: their croissants make it hands down in the Toronto top 3. Need we say more...

To Laura: for amazing cookies, try Le Gourmand -- very yummy!

I love a good cookie and find there aren't that many around - most are too sweet or too greasy. The mocha chocolate cookie at D et D is one the best - tasty with excellent chewyness. Anyone have any other cookie recommendations?
