For those of us trying to find Pierre Herm
style and quality pastries in Bangkok... Let
Them Eat Cake is the right place! Let Them
Eat Cake offers a large assortment of first-
class French-style pastries. Even if you are
buying cakes to take out, don't forget to
look at the menu; each cake is described in
details. The Rose for example (pictured) is
an almond dacquoise biscuit, rose petal
bavaroise cream, jellified raspberry coulis,
and crystallized raspberry. It is as delicious
as it sounds, the flavours and textures
complementing each other to perfection.
Other original creations include the passion
(based on a passion fruit - raspberry
association), or the pompadour (with
praline, milk chocolate and hazelnuts).
Traditional French pastries like the lemon
tart, the chou la crme (cream puff) or the
Saint-Honor are also available, and usually
executed with a twist - for example an earl-
gray tea cream puff, or a rose-raspberry
Saint-Honor.
At around 150 Bahts per piece, the desserts
aren't cheap, but many pastry shops
practice similar prices for lesser-quality and
lesser-style pastries. Let Them Eat Cake
has another shop on Sumhumvit 20, in the
Mille-Malle building, near the end of the soi
(BTS Phrom Pong).
