Chamlong's restaurant is a vegetarian heaven in Bangkok, possibly the best vegetarian restaurant in the city. The variety, the quality, the taste and the freshness of the dishes are unparalleled, and so are their prices (one dish costs 10-20 Bahts; eating more than 50 B worth of food if difficult -- though tempting). The restaurant is organized like a food court, each stand offering its own specialty (you can also see the food being prepared right in front of you).
Thai, Chinese and even some Western food (hamburgers, pasta) is available. Many traditional Thai dishes are offered in a vegetarian version (try for example the "fish" curry in banana leaves, or the "chicken" skewers, or the pat Thai). A large assortment of steamed buns is also on display, as well as many different kinds of dumplings, stews, noodle dishes, salads, soups, apetizers, tofu dishes, mock meats, Thai desserts, ice-cream made with Thai fruits, Thai herbal drinks and fresh fruit juice.

The restaurant can be a little hard to find... take the subway to the Kamphaeng Phaet station, use the exit number 1 across the MOF farmer's market, and make a right behind the exit (5 mins walk from the exit; the restaurant is in a large warehouse-looking building). The reward will be well, well worth the effort!

For very similar food (in taste and quality, although prices are a little higher), you can also visit the more easily accessible Baan Suan Pai on Pahon Yothin. If you're in Chatuchak Market and would rather have full service vegetarian food, Healthy Spice, just next door to Chamlong's, is a good alternative.
